Fremantle Prison gatehouse and associated entry complex, built 1854/5 with convict labour. The prison was first used for transportees from Britain but later used for local malefactors. It closed in 1991, recognised as a heritage site and now a significant tourist attraction, and is included in the World Heritage Site, Australian Convict Sites.
