White's seahorse (Hippocampus whitei), emerging from the branches of a soft coral tree (Dendronephthya sp.). Grows to 20 cms and is very common in Sydney Harbour, often found attached to rings of shark-proof swimming enclosures. Australian endemic occurring from southern Queensland to southern Victoria and in parts of south Australia. Nelson Bay, Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia
