Gidgee forest (Acacia cambagei)
Gidgee forest (Acacia cambagei). Gidgee replaces Brigalow (Acacia harpophylla) as rainfall falls below 550 mm per year and lies in a belt west of the Brigalow belt, forming part of the extensive acacia-dominated forest woodland shrublands of inland Australia. Like Brigalow, it has been cleared over large areas for pastoral and agricultural development, particularly in the east of its range, but has suffered less than Brigalow since it occupies semi-arid lands further inland which is only suitable for rangeland grazing. Near Bourke, northwestern New South Wales, Australia
